Why make these 5 mistakes when you can avoid them?

Success and failure are two sides of the same coin. Making mistakes is part of the game and are perfectly normal. It’s best to embrace failures and move ahead. As an entrepreneur it is vital we don’t waste too much energy harboring the mistakes. These are 5 mistakes one should avoid. Being a know-it-all and do-it-all A common mistake at the onset of every business is thinking you can control and run your business by yourself. However, delegation is one of the hardest things to learn. Delegation is not about distributing work. It’s about being able to do it successfully. It involves the right briefing, teaching, empowerment and making sure they have everything that allows them to excel. Not being a ‘people-person’ As an entrepreneur or a leader, it is most important to be a people-person and you will have to accept that eventually you will have to deal with the ones that work for you more than your product itself. Learn to take care of their problems and spend a considerable amount of time doing so. These people include your team, your stakeholders and your customers. There’s no slowing down As your business matures, it will go through multiple stages of transition. Each stage will require a new set of requirements and pose new challenges. In the evolution of being a start-up to an SME or large enterprise, never skip or fast track your business growth. UAE Youth are transforming into young entrepreneurs

UAE Youth are transforming into young entrepreneurs

A study conducted by AON Hewitt and Dubai International Academic City revealed that 7 out of 10 university students in the UAE would like to stay in the country after graduating. The data for the Qudurat Student Wave III study was consolidated from 996 national, transnational and resident students enrolled at 10 institutions across Dubai. This made it one of the most comprehensive studies in the region.   According to the reports, there’s a 19% rise in the number of university students who wish to stay in the country, as compared to the number in 2013. An impressive 1 in 4 Emirati student showed keen interest in becoming an entrepreneur and starting their own business. Another groundbreaking finding from the study was the dedication and ambition showcased by Emirati female students, as none of them wanted to become homemakers. The majority wanted to, either study further, or start their own business. Mohammad Abdullah, Managing Director of Dubai International Academic City said, “Having a strong academic ecosystem in Dubai will provide students who aspire to create the economies of tomorrow with the infrastructure that is needed to get there. As Dubai seeks to create an innovative economy, findings from the report demonstrate how aspirations of students are changing and how young people are becoming far more entrepreneurial and optimistic about their future, because of the opportunities to fulfil their ambitions in Dubai.” Elias Dib, Partner, Aon Hewitt Middle East, said “UAE is a fast-paced labour market with unique challenges.” The study findings highlight the changing expectations and goals of new employees entering the workforce and the presence of a clearer...
